When you move into your first apartment, it's a chance to start fresh and decorate it the way you see fit. There are a million ways to decorate your first apartment, but here are a few of our favourite ways to do it.
Add lots of colour
If you're not afraid of a little hard work, you could use a bit of paint to spice up your new digs. Because some rental apartments don't allow tenants to paint, it's wise to ask ahead of time (to ensure they return your security deposit), or add a painterly touch with a piece of DIY artwork.
Don't forget you can also add loads of colour with your bed linens, sofa choices and any other textiles you incorporate in your new apartment.
Area rugs
Area rugs not only add warmth and coziness, they help define the areas of your apartment. For instance, if you're moving into a studio, you may want to differentiate your living room from your bedroom. Using area rugs can help you do that with ease (and colour).
Hang curtains
Curtains help you decide just how much light to let into your new apartment and how much of your neighbourhood you want to see. They make a room feel cozier, warmer and are the easiest finishing touch to your decor.
Bring some greenery into your life
Adding plants around your apartment will bring life and colour into your world. If you're worried about your green thumb, succulents are very easy to take care of and you can create terrariums with some of your favourite varieties.
Don't forget about your favourite photos
Keep your friends and family close by with photos hung around the apartment. Instead of just pinning them to your wall, invest in some decorative frames that match your style and hang them or display them. It will not only mean a lot to you to see your favorite pics, but when friends and family come by to visit, they'll be happy to see them as well.
